In June 2021 Lindford Parish Council issued an on-line Village Survey. Accessed via www.lindfordpc.org.uk and publicised on social media, noticeboards, and handouts.
The survey came about following initial member consideration on the pros and cons of committing to the production of a formal Neighborhood Plan (NP). Examples of which were viewed, and a specialist consultancy asked to give an overview.
An approved NP would provide some protection against speculative developers wishing to over develop the village. Whilst Lindford is already well developed, and no potential development areas identified in the EHDC Plan there are Open Spaces etc. that need to be protected.
The ongoing changes to Planning at HM Government level and a new draft EHDC Plan made the costs associated both in terms of finances, human resources and time potentially at risk until such time as definitive plans were in place. Members of Lindford Parish Council therefore elected to hold a Village Survey to gather residents’ views on a range of subject matters. Using a 2003 similar survey as a base line members established a 39-question survey. This allowing a then and now comparison.
The survey shall form the basis of a Lindford Village Plan that whilst not enforceable will help members in policy decision making locally and to lobby other authorities where subjects are outside the jurisdiction of a Parish Council.
